Exit? What a strange name.
Congratulations to Kirsten for checking with brio another box on her to-do list before becoming a Doctor! It is hard to keep-up, and I cannot wait to see Kirsten defend her thesis. Soon. Spring is just around the corner, finally. It is also the time to remember about protecting ourselves and pets from tick bites.
Nice piece for the McGill Tribune here And there she goes! Only a couple of weeks after landing in Panama, Kelsey is busy with field work, collecting tadpoles for her experiment, checking for Bd in the water of streams in a Park...and swabbing adults for Bd. So much done is so little time!
Photos by Henk van der Meulen Lea presented her poster at the Fall 2022 honours symposium of the Bieler School of Environment. I quote: "All went comme sur des roulettes! Attendance was good and got some great questions and insights from my peers." Congratulations!
Stolen from my colleague Andrew Hendry. It is no news, but oh so important.
Grammar tips/rules for scientific writing Very exited to see this paper published, and grateful to work with great collaborators on this project. Link Olson and I argued years ago that one could use the past to predict the future response of species to climate warming. 16 years later, not only are we breaking the rules, but we also report for the first time the reversal of the rules of body size variation in mammals.

Read more here: https://www.mcgill.ca/newsroom/channels/news/tick-borne-pathogens-increasingly-widespread-central-canada-343574 In her paper, Kirsten reports the occurrence of two pathogens carried by ticks, outside of their known distribution range in Southern Canada. Link to the publication here. Léa made it into the BSE Fall 2022 Newsletter. For her honours, Léa conducted interviews of local stakeholders asking them about the state of biodiversity in the Caribbean. Tout un projet (photo A. Danzi)
